Elle, Okami Moon, and Sapphire Snow at Berry Farms in Homestead, FL
Creeping Into Spooky Season
We’re getting closer and closer to Halloween, so I thought it was the perfect time to drop this epic set with three of my favorites: Sapphire Snow, Okami Moon, and Elle. This year, I made a real effort to stack my schedule with plenty of Halloween photography content. While you’ve already seen a few spooky sets, this one was actually the first concept I came up with.
Sapphire Snow and Okami Moon are two of my all-time favorite collaborators in Florida. Whether it’s cosplay shoots at anime conventions, creative model sets, or party photos, these two always bring the hype. For this session, they suggested we add in their talented friend Elle (fun fact: she shares my birthday), and it was a total no-brainer.
Planning the Halloween Shoot
Like any good project, it started with a group chat (as if we didn’t already have enough). Each model wanted to bring a distinct character to life:
Sapphire Snow as the Halloween Puppy
Elle as The Scarecrow
Okami Moon as The Crow (not to be confused with James O’Barr’s The Crow)
Sapphire recommended Berry Farms, a pumpkin patch in Homestead, FL. It’s basically deep Miami—one of the last stops before the Florida Keys.
Shooting at Berry Farms Pumpkin Patch
The team at Berry Farms couldn’t have been friendlier. Because of the elaborate costumes (cough Okami), we showed up about 30 minutes before closing. Normally, I prioritize outfits over locations—a killer look can make anywhere work, but the reverse isn’t true. Still, none of us wanted to pay a full entry fee for just half an hour.
That’s when Berry Farms came through and let us in for free, asking only that we tag them in our photos. Supporting local businesses is important to me, and we were happy to shout them out.
In the end, 30 minutes was all we needed. Looking at the photos, you’d swear we were there for hours. The setup was perfect: great layout, golden light, and three models firing on all cylinders. A huge thanks goes to Elle’s boyfriend Jose, who helped all day—driving, assisting, and even bringing the emotional support. Jose has been in front of my camera before, most memorably in a reindeer and Krampus shoot almost two years back.
Downtown Homestead Portraits
Since the energy was still high after Berry Farms (plus some warmup shots at Sapphire’s place), we headed to downtown Homestead for extra portraits. Sapphire and I had shot there before, outside City Hall, where the architecture is a dream backdrop.
Jose even grabbed my camera and snapped a few photos of me with the girls. Those little behind-the-scenes moments make shoots like this feel even more special.
Why I Love Halloween Photography
This shoot checked every box for me: top-tier models, fresh locations, golden light, good friends, and the Halloween season in full effect. It’s everything I love about spooky season photography—creativity, collaboration, and just the right touch of chaos.
