Kellie at Quiet Waters
Halloween Season Photoshoot with Kellie at Quiet Waters Park
Halloween season rolls on with a cute new photo set featuring a new model to the Cabal—meet Kellie! We first connected on social media through mutual friends, and while Kellie isn’t new to modeling, it had been a while since her last shoot. To ease her back in, we kept things fun and laid back with a shoot at Quiet Waters Park, home to the South Florida Renaissance Festival every February and March.
Shooting with a New Model
I always love the challenge of working with a new model. The photos aren’t always as effortless as with someone I’ve collaborated with many times, but there’s a sense of adventure in exploring their personality, vibe, and creative energy.
With a first-time shoot, it’s a balancing act. On one hand, you need to give the model confidence that you know what you’re doing and that the shoot has direction. On the other, it’s just as important to stay collaborative, open to new ideas, and willing to learn from what your model brings. That push and pull often makes for the best kind of creative chemistry.
The Funny Start at Quiet Waters
After a few weeks of juggling schedules and dodging South Florida’s unpredictable hurricane season, Kellie and I finally landed on a Saturday afternoon session. Things kicked off on a funny note when I accidentally stiffed the woman at the gate on the $3 park entry fee. I didn’t mean to—I’m just used to going to Quiet Waters during the Ren Faire, when the entry fee is waived.
When I waved and drove right through, the gate attendant just stared. Later, Kellie casually mentioned that she paid her $3 to get in. We both cracked up over the misunderstanding—it set a lighthearted tone for the day.
Exploring Quiet Waters Park
Quiet Waters is a unique location for me since I usually only shoot there during Ren Faire. The one other time was with Lizzy Lil Bit, who knew the grounds well from camping there as a Rennie. This time around, I ended up driving us back and forth across the park, scouting spots until we landed on the perfect ones.
Kellie was patient and easygoing throughout. She brought stylish poses, cute fits, and a relaxed demeanor that made the shoot flow smoothly. I can already see how much potential we have for growth in future shoots together.
Highlights: Kellie’s Pumpkin Dress
One of my favorite moments was Kellie showing up in her pumpkin dress—a perfect fit for spooky season photography. Beyond her fits, Kellie’s openness and sweet energy really stood out. She was a total delight to work with and made this shoot one of my favorite Halloween collaborations of the year.
You’ll definitely be seeing more of Kellie in the future.
